Local businesses will soon have access to more clear and cost-effective advice on business acquisitions, disposals and funding. Jacobs Allen Chartered Accountants is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Kelly as a new director joining their team on Monday 12 April. The combination of its existing strong tax advisory work and Chris’ skill in Corporate Finance will benefit both existing clients and the wider business community.

Keith Senior, who leads the Jacobs Allen team, said “Chris is passionate about demystifying the process of selling or acquiring businesses and making advice on this accessible to any business irrespective of the size of transaction involved. We believe that his 10 years’ experience in this field, developed in spearheading this activity in his previous role will enable us to offer a more comprehensive and holistic service to clients, to benefit them personally and monetarily.”

Chris said. “I have been really impressed by Jacobs Allen’s ambition and vision and am very excited to be joining the team at this crucial time. The post COVID landscape will present many challenges and opportunities for businesses and an accountant’s skills and guidance have never been more needed by clients to help navigate it. I am looking forward to helping clients understand and look beyond the numbers, develop their plans for the future, to deliver direct commercial value to them.”

Chris has many years’ experience of audit, management accounts, tax and business succession planning, corporate restructuring and growth support. He specialises in advising owner managed businesses across a wide range of sectors including professional services, retail and hospitality, manufacturing and agriculture, and has a particular interest in corporate finance, including accessing the right funding for clients. He is a Chartered Accountant and Statutory Auditor and joins us from a regional firm in East Anglia where he was a Partner and member of the senior management team.

Sheila Burke, director at Jacobs Allen said “Through his experience as a finance director as well as his general accountancy expertise, Chris has a unique insight into creating an effective finance function to benefit clients by giving them better understanding of their management information. When we started discussions with Chris last year, it quickly became clear that he shared our ethos and our desire to work in close partnership with our clients, and that his skills complimented those of our existing team very well.”

Chris explained. “I was attracted to Jacobs Allen because of its reputation for providing first class tax and business advice, excellent client service and value for money to clients in the region and beyond. Jacobs Allen’s strength in building trusted, long lasting relationships with clients fits perfectly with my own approach. Their focus on being forward thinking, agile and innovative resonates with me and makes the firm stand out when compared to more traditional accountants.”

Chris has a special interest in embracing the latest advances in cloud-based technology in order to provide planning and profit improvement solutions to clients, of which Jacobs Allen has been an early adopter.
