EPC Changes for Rental Properties

Jacobs Allen - Landlord EPC Changes Ahead

We are writing to make clients with an interest in Rental Properties, aware that there are plans to change the energy performance (EPC) minimum ratings of privately rented homes in England & Wales from Band E, to EPC Band C.

The current proposal is that this would apply for all new tenancies from 2025, and all existing tenancies from 2028.

Hopefully, being aware of this change at this stage will give you sufficient time to prepare for it, or alternatively to sell on any low EPC rated rental properties you currently let out. It should also help guide your decisions when purchasing a new property to rent out.
